Lois Spence, MS, LMHC

Licensed Therapist & Life Coach

I am passionate about empowering clients to find their authentic voice and create boundaries that protect their peace. Our work together will enable the discovery of purpose and passion as we remove blocks that are keeping you from being your most authentic and fulfilled self. It is an honor to walk beside you as I provide a safe and non-judgmental space to process emotions. I am here to support you, while also challenging any distorted thinking that might be getting in the way of moving forward. I often use humor as we work together to set goals that contribute to your longterm wellness.

I use a variety of therapeutic techniques through a Person Centered approach and draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness and Movement Therapy to guide our time together.

My Background

I was born in the UK and moved to the US as a child, eventually making my way from the Washington DC area in 2005 to the Pacific Northwest where I raised my three adult children.

My own experience raising three children, divorcing after a long term marriage, mid life career change and empty nester stage has provided me insight into the uncertainty and fear that occurs alongside these moments. I understand the gender role struggles women face and pressure to balance career and family, along with maintaining your own hopes and dreams. Our work around internal and external expectations as well as creating boundaries will help you find your joy, purpose and encourage your growth and transformation during these transitional phases. We can work on a roadmap together that leads you down a path to a fulfilling life.

I am familiar with the challenges of raising children and have a special interest in working with adolescents as they navigate complex issues and develop their core values amidst the turmoil of this stage. Having an outside perspective, a safe place for teens to vent and receive guidance, lends itself to improved family communication and resilient, content teens. I am here to support them as they discover their strengths, areas for improvement and grow into the best versions of themselves.

In my free time I love being active in nature, attending live music, traveling, spending time with my partner, friends and family and consuming large amounts of coffee!
